PC Based using a variety of data collection and output devices and purpose written software.

 Resistance thermometers mounted around the water - cooled jacket of the arc furnace are connected to the data acquisition system. This is connected via serial link to the PC system in the remotely located control room. Temperatures are sampled regularly by the system and compared with alarm limits. If a limit is exceeded an audible warning is produced together with visual indication of the plant location via the PC display.  Data from the system and all alarm events are logged for ‘trend spotting’ analysis. The system performs several other functions including monitoring and alarm facilities for stack and transformer temperatures, inlet and outlet cooling water flows gas plant fan operation and control of the dilution air damper.
